Citrus & Cardamom Sugar Cookies : gourmet magazine


– 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cardamom

– 1/2 teaspoons salt

– 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter

– 1 cup + 2 tablespoons sugar

– 1 1/2 teaspoons finely grated orange peel

– 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

– 1 large egg

– raw sugar


In a medium bowl whisk flour, cardamom and salt to a blend. Using electric mixer beat butter until creamy in a separate bowl. Gradually add sugar to the butter; beat until light and fluffy. Add orange peel, vanilla and egg; beat until blended. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour or until firm.

Divide dough in half. Form each half into ball and flatten into disks, then wrap in plastic. Chill for 45 min.

Preheat oven to 350 f. Grease 2 cookie sheets or line with parchment paper. Roll out dough disks upon lightly floured surface. Cut out cookies using festive cookie cutters and sprinkle each cookie with raw sugar. Carefully transfer each cookie to baking sheets.

Bake cookies until light golden brown, about 16 minutes. Let cool and Enjoy!
